Windows 10 Chrome Settings

How to speed up Chrome

Speeding up Chrome Browser

Google’s Chrome is an amazing browser. Typically it is fast and responsive but there is one particular tweak that can improve your browsing experience significantly.

Chrome Settings

One of the first settings I make in Chrome, which isn’t a Chrome setting, per se, but a Windows proxy setting.

Go to Chrome Settings

Scroll down to Show advanced settings

Scroll down to Change proxy settings

Windows 10 Chrome change proxy settings

This is the Windows dialogue box that appears next – select LAN (local area network) settings

Internet properties

Simply deselect the Automatically detect settings

Automatically detect settings

Click OK and OK again to exit

Restart your browser to take affect.

Changing the proxy setting is totally fine to do. It just means that it won’t look for anything that may be configured (typically at home there is no settings you need for this. Larger companies will have proxy settings that is just a filter for website content so they know what people are surfing and to minimize threats). So what I’m saying is you don’t need it and I’ve found it to improve my browsing experience with different web browsers.

My default browser is Chrome to which I sign into my Google account with. I also run Firefox, Microsoft’s new Edge (that replaced Internet Explorer) and Safari. All for different reasons 😉

Let me know if this helped out at all?

Cheers
